The Challenge

The client came with this great idea in their heads, but was needing help with how exactly the website would work. The challenge was to make the site look so it can not be mistaken with a online shop. There were a lot of categories and sub-categories to work into the information architecture. A member’s area should give the user provide an added value and differentiate the site to other gift sites or blogs.

The Solution

• There are 3 access points with a colour-coded navigation that unfolds sub-items when selected makes it easy for the user to browse through the categories.
• Gender, age, budget filter can be used to narrow down the product listings.
• The member area allows you to add events / occasions to your calendar, create gift lists (including one for yourself), tag gift ideas to an event category (“This product would be good for Tom’s birthday”) and share your gift lists via email, facebook or twitter.
• Receive automatic email reminders for your events.
• A branded newsletter features products for a particular theme or upcoming seasonal occasion.

The Results

The website has had a extremely fast start after the launch before Christmas 2010 which was a great success. It has quickly build up a database of newsletter subscribers and followers for their twitter, blog and Facebook page.
